I agree with Ingro that it is best to baffle each of the four rows.  If this is not possible, try to put a full row in the front and back with the short units in rows two and three.  Offset the gaps in those rows.  I am assuming that these are package kilns and that the row spacing is small (a few inches). 
Do checks at the planner to see in there is unit-to-unit mc variability.

Hi Ryan,

Ingo is correct.  We have found that bad / insufficient baffling can extend drying times substantially. The net effect of big gaps where the air can short circuit past /over the stack not only effect the true wet bulb reading because of more turbulance, but also contribute to patchy drying

All rows should be baffled. That applies to the side and to the top baffles.

We have two kilns, 23 feet wide, that we load 4 units of lumber high, 4 deep, and usually 2 units wide.  I say usually, because the lumber is most often 8 ft long, but sometimes we get 7 and 6 foot units as well.  In order to direct airflow through the units when the width of the units is well under the kiln width, would I want to put a baffle on the side of each of the 4 rows? or just front and back? Having 5-7 feet between units and the wall can't be helping airflow go through the wood.

The same question applies to the top of the units as well.

@ the forum experts...
I am trying to get a meaningful calculated Wet bulb value from an RH & temperature probe. Problem is..when calculating WB from DB & RH, I get one value. (formula using iteration from https://www.weather.gov/epz/wxcalc_rh) Testing the RH value using DB & calculated WB gives a different RH (http://www.1728.org/relhum.htm)..also, I have an excel spread sheet that I've been using all along to calculate RH& EMC. The answers I get from excel corresponds with 1728.org.

eg. weather.gov...DB 60 deg C, RH 30.1% = WB 36.31 Deg C
1728.org & my spread sheet: DB 60 Deg C, WB 36.31 deg c = RH 22%

btw..The reason i'm trying to calculate a WB value from an RH probe is to control vent on WB ...not on RH or EMC, as it fluctuates to much with DB temp fluctuations

High MC in the center is not the root cause of the cupping. 

There is stress in kiln dried lumber.  The stress is relieved during a conditioning process during which the wood is exposed to an equilibrium moisture content about 4% greater than the target moisture content.  This is easily accomplished when the target MC is 10% or less.

It is difficult to get the EMC in the kiln high enough if the wood is greater than 10% moisture content.  So the cupping in the wet wood is likely due to stress.

I would also guess that the cupping has some time delay - it might take 6 to 12 hours for it to fully cup.  This is partly due to the MC change as you suggest, but it is also due to the viscoelastic nature of the wood.  There would be a time delay even if there was a uniform MC throughout the piece.
