Title: Balancing Direct Fired Kilns
Post by: JMS on March 14, 2013, 10:01:00 AM
Will balancing direct-fired kilns improve energy costs?

Appreciate any feedback.

Thank you,

I am not sure I understand your question. What exactly do you mean by "balancing" direct-fired kilns?  If you can be more specific, I can do some research online and try to find some references.

Balancing the heat distribution in the kiln should give a more uniform final moisture content.  That should probably be the primary concern.

You will probably have lower energy use with a more uniform MC because there will be fewer wets allowing you to raise the average moisture content a bit.
