Title: Aluminum fin pipe
Post by: SKieling on February 18, 2013, 04:12:45 PM
I need to replace the fin pipe in one of my kilns. I'm considering aluminum fin on an aluminum coated steel pipe. Its an American Wood Dryers design. Does anyone have experience with this type of heat coil. Thanks for your help.

They may work great, but I didn't go that route.  Aluminized steel fins are tougher in case of a board contacting them.  I also was concerned about the different heat expansion rates with aluminum and steel.

I do, they do bent easy and require mantenance if you want to keep them efficent. I also keep mine blown out because they are tightly spaced.
