Boiler/Kiln Operator Trainee

Job Description
We are seeking a Boiler/Kilns Operator/Trainee who has a commitment to safety and possess great problem solving skills. Trainees have a great opportunity to learn boiler processes and maintenance while working alongside our operators in an environment that values team-work and accountability.

This position supports the swing shift team.

Your qualifications:
  • Preferably possesses a basic understanding of boiler/kiln operation and maintenance, environmental regulations associated with boilers/kilns, and understanding of production flow and the role boiler/kilns play in the overall operations of the plant.
  • Flexible as the schedule can vary from day-to-day, and maybe include overtime.
  • Desire to expand learning in boiler processes and maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate within and across departments.
  • Experience operating forklift, 950 and 966 Cat Loaders.
  • Mechanically inclined with an interest to further develop technical skills.
  • Minimum of 3 months experience at the plant or comparable environment.

Your responsibilities:
  • Performs daily responsibilities, including maintenance and operations of boilers but follows directions of boiler lead or boiler supervisor. Work in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Reading instruments and gauges to identify problems.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation (environmental, outputs, maintenance, and tolerances).
  • Oversee and maintain boiler equipment – including monitoring operations and mixing needed chemicals to generate steam for dry kilns.
  • Equipment maintenance, including washing, greasing and other maintenance functions.
